CSK receive a major boost as Dewald Brevis edges closer to recovery, with Stephen Fleming optimistic about his return in the next IPL 2026 match.

Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has shared a positive update regarding Dewald Brevis, indicating that the young batter is nearing full fitness. The South African has been sidelined for the opening three matches of IPL 2026 due to a side strain but appears close to making his return.

Brevis has actively participated in training sessions, including batting in the nets and engaging in fielding drills, without any visible discomfort. His consistent presence in pre-match preparations signals that he is on track to rejoin the playing XI soon.

Fleming Optimistic Ahead of Delhi Capitals Fixture

Fleming expressed confidence that Brevis could be available for CSK’s upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals on April 11. The five-day break between matches has provided valuable recovery time for the batter.

“We hope he is going to be right for the next game. We have five days between the next game. We have been conservative, and hopefully, these next five days go as well as we have planned, and he is ready to go. It’s a big loss, but we are looking forward to getting him back,” Fleming said during the RCB vs CSK game, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

CSK Struggling Early in IPL 2026 Season

CSK have endured a difficult start to their IPL 2026 campaign, losing all three of their opening matches. With zero points and a net run rate of -2.517, the team currently sits at the bottom of the standings.

The return of Brevis could provide a much-needed boost to the middle order. The 22-year-old had an impressive stint last season after joining as an injury replacement, scoring 225 runs in six matches at a striking rate of 180. His aggressive batting style played a key role in strengthening CSK’s lineup.

As the team looks to bounce back, Brevis’ availability could prove crucial in turning their season around.
