Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a breach of conduct during the Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 29 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Zaman was found guilty of violating Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct. This article relates to showing dissent at an on-field umpire’s decision during an international match. He has been fined 10 percent of his match fee.
ICC Sanctions and Demerit Point For Fakhar Zaman
A single demerit point has also been added to Zaman’s disciplinary record. This is his first offence in a 24-month period. The player admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by ICC Match Referee Reon King. This meant no formal hearing was required.
As a Level 1 offence, the sanction includes an official reprimand and a fine. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, third umpire Rashid Riaz, and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi.

In the match, Pakistan secured the tri-series title with a six-wicket win. Sri Lanka, batting first, were bowled out for 118 in 19.1 overs. Shaheen Afridi took three wickets for 18 runs. Pakistan completed the chase in 18.4 overs, led by captain Babar Azam’s unbeaten 37. Zaman scored 3 runs from 5 balls before being dismissed.
