Gujarat Titans delivered a dominant all-round performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad to strengthen their position at the top of the IPL 2026 points table.
Gujarat Titans produced a commanding display with both bat and ball to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in the 56th match of IPL 2026 at Ahmedabad on May 12.
After posting 168/5 in their 20 overs, Gujarat Titans bundled out SRH for just 86 in 14.5 overs to register one of their biggest victories of the season. The win also extended GT’s strong momentum in the tournament as they climbed to 16 points from 12 matches.
Sai Sudharsan And Washington Sundar Lead GT Recovery
Batting first, Gujarat Titans endured an early wobble after losing skipper Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler cheaply inside the powerplay.
However, opener Sai Sudharsan once again anchored the innings brilliantly with a composed 61 off 44 deliveries, smashing five boundaries and two sixes. He stitched together crucial partnerships to stabilise the innings after the early setbacks.

Kagiso Rabada Headlines Ruthless Bowling Display
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase never gained momentum as Gujarat Titans’ pace attack dismantled the batting order from the very beginning.
Mohammed Siraj struck in the very first over by dismissing Travis Head for a duck before Rabada took complete control of the innings.
The South African speedster removed Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Ravichandran Smaran to leave SRH reeling early in the chase.
Holder also joined the party with three wickets, while Prasidh Krishna grabbed two crucial dismissals.
Despite a fighting 19-run cameo from Pat Cummins and 16 runs from Salil Arora, SRH were bowled out for just 86.
Gujarat Titans Strengthen Top Spot As SRH Suffer Setback
The emphatic win helped Gujarat Titans remain firmly at the top of the IPL 2026 points table with eight wins from 12 matches and an improved net run rate of 0.551.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, stayed third despite the heavy defeat. SRH now have 14 points from 12 matches and will face increasing pressure in the race for playoff qualification as well as securing the Top 2 spot.
