Ravichandran Ashwin backed Gujarat Titans to beat Rajasthan Royals and win the IPL 2026 title if they reach the final.
Ravichandran Ashwin made a bold prediction ahead of the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 clash between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh on May 29.
Ashwin backed the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat side to beat Rajasthan and go on to win the IPL trophy if they reach the final in Ahmedabad against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The former India spinner said Gujarat’s familiarity with conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium gives them a major advantage.
Ashwin also pointed to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as Rajasthan’s biggest threat but warned that the youngster must handle bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada carefully.

Despite Rajasthan’s strong form, Ashwin confidently predicted Gujarat Titans would secure their second IPL title.
“GT will 100% beat RR all the way. I can give it in writing. And if GT qualify for the final, they are winning the trophy for sure. They’ve the Ahmedabad track measured to an inch. GT will win their second title. RCB’s only hope is to catch a flight and stop GT in Mullanpur itself because they’ve no chance in Ahmedabad,” Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“The truth is RR should beat GT in Qualifier 2 in terms of analysis. Yet, GT will win. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be a massive factor, but he knows he has to be careful against Siraj and Rabada. Even though he scored some in the two matches against GT, he didn’t go helter-skelter. He has to surely score and I want him to but I strongly believe GT are winning,” he added.
Gujarat Titans ended the IPL 2026 league stage in second place with 18 points from 9 wins and 5 defeats. After suffering a 92-run loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, GT now face Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 on May 29 in New Chandigarh. The winner will advance to the IPL 2026 final against RCB.
