Rajasthan Royals dominated Mumbai Indians as young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed in a convincing win at Guwahati.
The Mumbai Indians didn’t have the best of their outing against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, April 7. In a rain-interrupted contest at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Mumbai Indians were defeated by 27 runs after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal ran riot against MI bowlers.
Sooryavanshi was especially a treat to watch given the fact that he hit legendary pacer Jasprit Bumrah for a six off the very first ball of the match.

Hitting sixes off Bumrah isn’t easy, yet the Bihar-born cleared the fence once again three balls later in the same over. Although he was dismissed after scoring 39 runs from his 14-ball stay at the crease, Sooryavanshi’s assault on Jasprit Bumrah was a surprise to many.
Sooryavanshi Gets Massive Praise
After the match was over, legendary Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh praised the Rajasthan Royals batter for his immense talent, which could put even the best bowler in the world under pressure. Harbhajan also highlighted Sooryavanshi’s age, stating that he is set to create unimaginable records for cricketers to chase, given that he is just 15.
“A 15-year-old was against the World’s No.1 bowler Jasprit Bumrah. And the very first ball, a small kid, hits him for a six off the very first ball. The best of the best sweat against Bumrah, but this kid has shown that he plays the ball and not the bowler. Bumrah is known to come back. He bowled a slower one. But that also, he picked it nicely and put it away for a six over mid-wicket. This guy has shown that, despite being 15, he is prepared and is here to rule. He will rule,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“Does anyone play like this at 15? People start getting big at this age, but this guy is already in the class of the big. Mumbai had three solid bowlers, and all three were taken to the attack at the start itself. That is where Jaiswal and Suryavanshi broke MI’s confidence,” he added.
Harbhajan Singh Praises Yashasvi Jaiswal
While praising Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harbhajan Singh was equally appreciative, as Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 77 off 32 deliveries to help the Royals post a total of 150 runs inside 11 overs. Harbhajan lauded his hard work and courage to succeed despite his background.
“Jaiswal was unbelievable. He batted the way right from the first ball till the end. This year, he is batting like a senior batter. I am very happy to see our youngsters taking responsibility. There is no lack of capability. From the background he came from, and where he is today, it shows that hard work is the only solution. He has gone through a time when he had nothing. Today, he has everything, but he has maintained cricket as his priority,” he said.
Nevertheless, Rajasthan eventually secured a 27-run win after restricting Mumbai to 123 for 9. With this victory, they became the table-toppers of IPL 2026, winning three out of three games convincingly.
