Harry Brook Confident England Can Defeat India Even Without Playing Perfect Cricket

England captain Harry Brook said his team does not need a perfect game to defeat India in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final.

England captain Harry Brook is confident before the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against India on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium. He said England do not need a perfect game to defeat India. Brook explained that several of England’s wins in the tournament came despite imperfect displays.

He credited the team’s unity and belief for their progress to the semi-finals. According to him, players stayed calm during pressure situations and trusted each other to finish games. He also highlighted the composure shown by Will Jacks and Rehan Ahmed in a recent chase.

“No, I don’t believe that we need the perfect game to win the competition, to be honest. The games that we have won have been nowhere near perfect, and we still managed to get the wins convincingly in some of them and then tie it in the other games,” Brook said at the pre-match press conference here on Wednesday.

“It’s just the unity that we have had to be able to get across the line, the belief that everybody has shown throughout those games and the calmness that we have had when the bowlers have been at the top of the match. Or, for example, the way that Jacks and Rehan Ahmed have played it the other night – they are extremely calm. To get us over the line, needing 40 off the last three overs was awesome,” he added.

India face England on March 5 at 7 pm IST. The winner will advance to the final.
