Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell Escape Ban After NZ Nightclub Incident

Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell received only a warning from the Cricket Regulator over the New Zealand nightclub incident.

Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell received only a warning from the Cricket Regulator following an incident in New Zealand last year. The case related to an altercation with a nightclub bouncer in Wellington. The regulator concluded the matter without imposing further sanctions.

The incident surfaced after England’s 4-1 Ashes loss in Australia. Harry Brook had then apologised publicly. The matter was referred to the independent regulator, which found Brook and Jacob Bethell in breach of Regulation 3.2 regarding professional conduct.

Both players accepted that they breached professional conduct standards. Brook had initially stated he was alone during the incident but later corrected this statement in January. He admitted the earlier version was wrong and aimed at protecting teammates. The regulator issued a formal caution to both players after completing the investigation.

“As a consequence of those investigations, the Regulator has issued a caution notice to Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell in relation to their conduct during that night. No further action is to be taken by the Regulator in relation to Josh Tongue,” the official statement read.

Fast bowler Josh Tongue was also present during the incident. Authorities reviewed his involvement but decided against taking any action.
