In the first IND vs SA ODI at Ranchi, India won by 17 runs after defending 349 and holding off South Africa’s spirited chase.
The IND vs SA ODI series started with a hard-fought 17-run win for India over South Africa in Ranchi, defending a total of 349. After being asked to bat, India got a strong start through a 136-run stand between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Kohli played a brilliant knock of 135 and reached his 52nd ODI century, while Rohit hit a steady fifty. KL Rahul(60) and Ravindra Jadeja added important runs at the end, helping India finish on 349-8.

South Africa began their chase poorly and slipped to 11-3, as Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh struck early. Matthew Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi tried to rebuild, and later Dewald Brevis and Marco Jansen attacked to bring the visitors back into the match. Jansen’s quickfire fifty put India under real pressure. However, Kuldeep Yadav changed the game with two wickets in one over, removing both set batters.
South Africa kept fighting through Corbin Bosch, who played a brave half-century with help from Prenelan Subrayen and Nandre Burger. However, India’s bowlers held their nerve in the final overs despite the heavy dew. Kuldeep finished with four wickets and Prasidh Krishna removed Bosch in the last over to seal the win.
India now lead the three match series 1-0.

Kuldeep Yadav made sure to keep the ball away from Marco Jansen thru length which worked. Top bowling.

Virat kohli shows old is still good. Shower of sixes to set tempo, holding on as wickets fell and all out aggression after reaching 100. Master class in pacing the ODI innings, lesson for youngsters who struggled towards the end.
