New Zealand produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat India by 50 runs in the fourth T20I at Visakhapatnam on January 28, 2026, sealing a commanding win after posting a massive total of 215/7.
Batting first in Vizag, New Zealand were powered by an explosive opening stand and strong finishing efforts. Tim Seifert led the charge with a blistering 62 off 36 balls, striking seven fours and three sixes, while Devon Conway provided solid support with a fluent 44 off 23 deliveries. The pair put on 100 runs for the first wicket inside 8.2 overs, setting the platform for a big total.
India fought back briefly through Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up two wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah, who dismissed Rachin Ravindra early. However, Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell ensured the momentum stayed with the visitors.
Mitchell was outstanding at the death, remaining unbeaten on 39 off just 18 balls, striking two fours and three sixes to push New Zealand past the 200-run mark. The Black Caps finished on 215/7, scoring at an imposing run rate of 10.75.
India Sank After Shivam Dube Revival
Chasing 216, India’s innings never truly took off despite a sensational counterattack from Shivam Dube. India lost Abhishek Sharma for a first-ball duck and soon found themselves under pressure after losing Suryakumar Yadav cheaply. Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh attempted to steady the innings, but regular wickets kept India behind the required rate.
Dube produced a stunning knock of 65 off just 23 balls, smashing seven sixes at a strike rate of 282.60, briefly raising hopes of an unlikely comeback. However, his run-out at 145 in the 15th over ended India’s resistance. Mitchell Santner starred with the ball for New Zealand, claiming 3/26, while Jacob Duffy picked up two crucial wickets.
