Persistent rain forced the abandonment of the fifth and final T20I between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, handing India a 2-1 series win. The game was halted after just 4.5 overs, with India off to a quick start at 52 without loss.
Shubman Gill scored 29 off 16 balls, while Abhishek Sharma added 23 off 13 before lightning and heavy rain ended any chance of resumption. Earlier, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh had opted to bowl first under overcast conditions.
Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Series for his 163 runs across the five-match contest.
Skipper Suryakumar Yadav, however, endured a quiet series with limited impact, failing to convert starts into big scores. Jasprit Bumrah bowled with discipline but wasn’t at his lethal best.
India showed consistency in the final stages of the series, while Australia struggled to combine strong batting and bowling performances in the same game.
