The IPL 2026 dates have been officially released by BCCI as it is slated to begin from March 26 and will end on May 31.

The 2026 Indian Premier League season will be held from March 26 to May 31. The schedule was announced at a meeting in Abu Dhabi on December 15.

The meeting between ten franchises and IPL authorities occurred ahead of the mini-auction. IPL CEO Hemang Amin disclosed the dates. Uncertainty remains over the opening match venue.

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is the home of the 2025 champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Traditionally, the defending champion’s home ground hosts the opener. However, its availability is unclear due to safety requirements.

IPL 2026 Venues Yet To be Decided

A fatal stampede occurred at the stadium on June 4. At least 11 fans died during RCB’s trophy celebration. Since then, the Karnataka government has denied requests to host matches. Women’s World Cup games were moved elsewhere.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association has conditional clearance. It must meet stipulated safety and security norms. A top BCCI official expressed hope about the venue. “We hope so. The State’s Deputy Chief Minister (DK Shivakumar) himself has said so.”

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently commented on the matter. “We have decided about the IPL matches. We are positive. We have asked our Home Minister G Parameshwara to have a meeting with them (KSCA authorities). Parameshwara will discuss with the Cricket Association. The Home Minister will deal with it,” he told the media.
