IPL 2026 | Sameer Rizvi Show Demolishes MI As DC Cruise To Comfortable Victory By 6 Wickets

Sameer Rizvi’s explosive 90 powered Delhi Capitals to a comfortable six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.

Delhi Capitals secured a convincing six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Match 8 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at Delhi, chasing down 163 with 11 balls to spare. A composed chase led by Sameer Rizvi ensured DC continued their strong run in the tournament.

Mumbai Indians, after being put in to bat, posted 162/6 in their 20 overs. Their innings never quite gained sustained momentum despite a few useful contributions. Early setbacks saw Ryan Rickelton (9) and Tilak Varma (0) dismissed quickly, leaving MI at 18/2 inside three overs.

Rohit Sharma steadied things briefly with a 26-ball 35, while Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings with a fluent 51 off 36 balls, striking three fours and two sixes. However, wickets at regular intervals kept MI from accelerating fully.

Naman Dhir’s 28 off 21 balls and Mitchell Santner’s unbeaten 18 provided a late push, with Corbin Bosch adding a quickfire 11* off just four deliveries. Still, 162/6 looked slightly below par on a good batting surface.

Delhi Capitals’ bowlers shared the workload effectively. Mukesh Kumar led the charge with 2/26, while Axar Patel, Lungi Ngidi, Vipraj Nigam, and T Natarajan chipped in with a wicket each to restrict MI.

Sameer Rizvi Steers DC’s Chase

In response, DC’s chase got off to a shaky start as KL Rahul fell for just 1, and Nitish Rana was run out for a duck, leaving them at 7/2. However, Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi stitched together a crucial partnership to stabilize the innings.

Nissanka played a fluent knock of 44 off 30 balls, setting the platform before falling at 73/3. From there, Sameer Rizvi took control of the chase with a brilliant innings, scoring 90 off 51 balls, including seven fours and seven sixes.

Rizvi found solid support from David Miller, who remained unbeaten on 21, as the duo added a match-defining stand. DC crossed the 150 mark in the 17th over, effectively sealing the contest.

Despite disciplined spells from Deepak Chahar (1/20) and Mitchell Santner (1/22), MI bowlers couldn’t contain Rizvi’s onslaught. Delhi Capitals eventually reached 164/4 in 18.1 overs, completing a comfortable victory.
