Lucknow Super Giants have acted quickly after Wanindu Hasaranga’s injury ruled him out of IPL 2026. The franchise signed South Africa all-rounder George Linde as Hasaranga’s replacement.
Hasaranga, bought for INR 2 crore, picked up a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This injury forced him to miss the entire season.

Linde joins LSG at his base price of INR 1 crore. He brings experience across formats, having played 3 Tests, 4 ODIs and 37 T20Is for South Africa.
In T20Is, he has scored 403 runs and taken 35 wickets. He also features in 250 T20 matches overall. The left-handed batter and slow left-arm spinner adds balance to the squad. George Linde will make his IPL debut in the 2026 season.

Notably, Wanindu Hasaranga has struggled with a hamstring injury and has not played competitive cricket for nearly 2 months. He also has not resumed bowling during this period.
Sri Lanka Cricket requires players to clear a fitness test and obtain a No Objection Certificate before joining IPL teams. Reports indicated that Hasaranga did not apply for the NOC.
