PBKS outclass MI with a dominant chase as Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer power a stunning seven-wicket win in IPL 2026.
Punjab Kings produced a commanding batting display to defeat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in Match 24 of IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16, chasing down a daunting target of 196 with ease.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a competitive total of 195/6 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to a sensational unbeaten century from Quinton de Kock. The South African wicketkeeper-batter anchored the innings with a blistering 112* off 60 balls, smashing 8 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 186.66.
Despite early setbacks, including the quick dismissals of Ryan Rickelton (2) and Suryakumar Yadav (0), de Kock found solid support in Naman Dhir, who scored a well-compiled 50 off 31 balls.
The duo stitched together a crucial partnership to revive the innings, but regular wickets towards the end prevented Mumbai from crossing the 200-run mark. Hardik Pandya contributed 14, while Tilak Varma added a quick 8 before being run out. Among the bowlers, Arshdeep Singh stood out with figures of 3/22, while Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh chipped in with one wicket each.

In response, Punjab Kings came out with aggressive intent and made light work of the chase, reaching 198/3 in just 16.3 overs. After losing Priyansh Arya early for 15, Prabhsimran Singh took control of the innings with a magnificent knock. He remained unbeaten on 80 off just 39 balls, hammering 11 fours and 2 sixes at an incredible strike rate of 205.12.

Shreyas Iyer played a captain’s knock, scoring 66 off 35 deliveries, including 5 boundaries and 4 sixes. The duo added a match-defining 139-run partnership for the third wicket, putting the game completely out of Mumbai’s reach. Earlier, Cooper Connolly contributed 17 off 12 balls before falling.
Mumbai’s bowling attack struggled to contain the flow of runs. AM Ghazanfar picked up two wickets, while Shardul Thakur claimed one, but the rest of the bowlers were expensive. Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless again, conceding 41 runs in his four overs.
