Punjab Kings pulled off a stunning run chase to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash at New Chandigarh on April 11. Chasing a daunting target of 220, PBKS rode on a blistering batting display to reach 223/4 in just 18.5 overs, sealing the win with seven balls to spare.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted an imposing 219/6 after being asked to bat. The innings was headlined by a breathtaking knock from Abhishek Sharma, who smashed 74 off just 28 balls, striking at over 260. He found strong support from Travis Head (38 off 23), as the duo powered SRH to a massive 120-run opening stand in just over eight overs.
Ishan Kishan chipped in with a quick 27, while Heinrich Klaasen anchored the middle overs with 39 off 33 balls. Late contributions from Aniket Verma (18 off 9) pushed SRH past the 200 mark. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh and Shashank Singh picked up two wickets each, with the latter impressing with an economical spell.
Punjab Kings Respond With Whirlwind Innings
In response, Punjab Kings came out all guns blazing. Priyansh Arya set the tone with a sensational 57 off just 20 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh matched the aggression with a 25-ball 51. The opening stand of 99 runs in just over six overs put PBKS firmly in control of the chase.
Despite a brief middle-order slowdown, captain Shreyas Iyer played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 69 off 33 balls.
He combined composure with aggression, hitting five fours and five sixes to keep the required rate in check. Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh provided useful support towards the end to ensure there were no late hiccups.

For SRH, Shivang Kumar was the standout bowler with three wickets, but lacked support from the rest of the attack as the bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs.
The victory showcased Punjab Kings’ batting depth and firepower, as they successfully chased down one of the highest totals of the season in emphatic fashion.
