Josh Hazlewood has suffered a new Achilles injury, putting his availability for the rest of the Ashes series in serious doubt.
Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has picked up a new Achilles injury, creating uncertainty around his participation in the remaining Ashes matches. This comes while he is still recovering from a hamstring issue sustained during a Sheffield Shield game last month.
Cricket Australia confirmed that the latest injury is minor. Hazlewood is expected to resume running and bowling next week.
Hazlewood had already missed the first two Tests against England and was scheduled to join the squad in Brisbane for rehabilitation work. However, the trip was cancelled after the Achilles problem surfaced. He will continue treatment in Sydney.
“Josh Hazlewood reported Achilles soreness this week during his rehabilitation from a recent hamstring injury. It is a low-grade issue, and he is expected to recommence running and bowling next week,” Cricket Australia spokesperson said in a statement.

The third Test begins on December 17. However, early indications suggest he may not return until the Boxing Day Test or even later. Despite the concerns, Hazlewood has been bowling in the nets recently.
Australia Hit by Multiple Injuries
Notably, Australia’s injury concerns continue to mount, with several key players sidelined during the Ashes. Captain Pat Cummins is recovering from a back problem that ruled him out of the Perth and Brisbane Tests. However, he is considered a strong chance to return in Adelaide. Opener Usman Khawaja also missed both matches after his back injury worsened during training.
In their absence, Australia have turned to Scott Boland and Brendan Doggett, while Michael Neser joined the XI in Brisbane to strengthen the pace attack after Nathan Lyon was left out.
