Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the second Test against India because he hasn’t recovered from his rib injury.
South Africa will be without Kagiso Rabada for the second Test against India in Guwahati, as the fast bowler has not recovered from the rib injury he picked up during training before the opening match. Captain Temba Bavuma confirmed Rabada’s unavailability and highlighted that the pacer had already missed the first Test in Kolkata, where South Africa secured a 30-run win.
“Kagiso has been ruled out of the second Test,” confirmed Proteas skipper.
Guwahati hosts its first-ever Test, leaving both India and South Africa to adjust to unfamiliar conditions at Barsapara. Bavuma assessed the Guwahati surface and noted that it appears far more stable than the pitch used in Kolkata. He expects the first two days to assist batters before spin becomes influential later in the match.

“This wicket looks a lot fresher and will be more consistent in terms of variability compared to Kolkata. The first two days should be good for batting, after which the spinners will come into play,” Bavuma explained.
The team will finalise Rabada’s replacement after another pitch inspection on the morning of the game.
