KKR Beat SRH by 7 Wickets, Chase 166 with Ease in IPL 2026

SRH fell short despite Head’s 61 as KKR chased 166 comfortably, winning by 7 wickets with 10 balls to spare.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced a clinical all-round performance to win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. KKR chased down a target of 166 with 10 balls to spare.

SRH, who won the toss and elected to bat, were undone by a disciplined KKR bowling attack and could only manage 165 all out in 19 overs. Varun Chakravarthy was the standout bowler, returning figures of 3 wickets for 36 runs in his 4 overs, while the wily Sunil Narine and pacer Kartik Tyagi each chipped in with 2 wickets apiece. Cameron Green and Anukul Roy picked up one wicket each to round off a thorough bowling effort.

For SRH, Travis Head was the lone hope, smashing a quick 61 off just 28 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Ishan Kishan chipped in with a useful 42, but apart from these two, no SRH batter could get going. Head’s dismissal in the 9th over effectively ended any hope of a really competitive total.

In reply, KKR were off to a flying start thanks to Finn Allen, who hit 29 runs off just 13 balls at the top of the order. When Allen fell, Ajinkya Rahane and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi steadied the ship and then accelerated beautifully, putting on a decisive 84-run partnership for the second wicket. Raghuvanshi was the anchor throughout the chase, finishing as the top scorer with an assured 59 off 47 balls, while Rahane contributed a composed 43 off 36.

When both fell in quick succession in the middle overs, Rinku Singh walked in and finished the job in his aggressive style, smashing an unbeaten 22 off just 11 balls, as KKR crossed the line in 18.2 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

For SRH, Pat Cummins was expensive, going for 47 runs in his 4 overs, while Eshan Malinga conceded 42 runs without picking up a wicket, leaving their bowling looking toothless in the face of KKR’s batting. This is also KKR’s third consecutive win in the tournament.
