CSK Sign Macneil Noronha As Replacement For Injured Ramakrishna Ghosh In IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings have moved quickly to strengthen their squad after Ramakrishna Ghosh was ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 with a foot fracture.

Chennai Super Kings have signed Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Hadley Noronha as a replacement for injured player Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of IPL 2026.

The five-time IPL champions have already informed the BCCI about the replacement signing and are currently awaiting final approval before officially completing the process. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the development to Cricbuzz.

Macneil Noronha Impressed In Maharaja Trophy 2025

The 24-year-old all-rounder earned attention after delivering an impressive campaign for Mangaluru Dragons during their successful Maharaja Trophy 2025 season.

Noronha scored 253 runs from 13 matches while maintaining a strike rate of 148.82. Known for his aggressive batting, he smashed 19 sixes throughout the tournament and played a crucial role in the team’s title-winning run.

Apart from his batting exploits, the Karnataka cricketer also contributed effectively with the ball through his off-spin bowling. He picked up 10 wickets in the competition with an economy rate of 7.44.

One of his standout performances came in the final against Hubli Tigers, where he returned figures of 2/25. His performances later earned him a place in Karnataka’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he featured in three matches.

CSK Continue To Battle Major Injury Crisis

Noronha replaces Ramakrishna Ghosh, who suffered a season-ending foot fracture during his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians on May 3.

Chennai Super Kings have endured a difficult season with injuries affecting multiple key players despite the team’s strong comeback in the second half of IPL 2026.

The franchise had already lost Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed and batter Ayush Mhatre due to season-ending injuries.

CSK were also without Nathan Ellis before the tournament began, while his replacement Spencer Johnson remained unavailable for a significant period because of injury concerns.

Adding to their troubles, veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni has missed action throughout the season due to a calf strain. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings had replaced Ayush Mhatre with Akash Madhwal, while the franchise is still yet to announce a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed.
