Vaughan Predicts 2-2 Ashes Draw, Backs England for Perth Win

Former England captain Michael Vaughan predicted a 2-2 series draw, contingent on the fitness of Ben Stokes.

The 2025-26 Ashes series will begin on November 21 in Perth. The first Test between Australia and England will be held at the Optus Stadium.

The series will then move to Brisbane for a day-night Test at The Gabba from December 4 to 8. Adelaide Oval will host the third Test from December 17 to 21. The final two matches are scheduled for the Melbourne Cricket Ground (December 26-30) and the Sydney Cricket Ground (January 4-8, 2026).

Ahead of the series, former England captain Michael Vaughan made a bold prediction. Vaughan, who led England to an Ashes win in 2005, forecast a 2-2 draw if captain Ben Stokes remains fit.

Vaughan’s Bold Prediction

He specifically predicted an England victory in the first Test in Perth. This is due to the absence of Australia’s captain Pat Cummins and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood.

“As long as B Stokes stays fit, I think this series is going to be 2-2 … England to win in Perth with no Pat or Josh … As long as we have no more injuries before the first test, that’s my final prediction … #Ashes,” Vaughan tweeted on Monday, November 17.

Cummins is missing the first Test with a back injury. Josh Hazlewood is out with a hamstring strain he sustained during a Sheffield Shield match.

In their absence, Scott Boland is expected to partner with Mitchell Starc with the new ball. Australia may select both Cameron Green and Beau Webster as batting all-rounders to strengthen their lineup. They can also bowl medium pace if needed.
