Michael Vaughan Wants MI To Replace Hardik Pandya With Cameron Green

Michael Vaughan suggested Mumbai Indians should trade Hardik Pandya to KKR and bring Cameron Green back to the franchise.

Michael Vaughan has suggested a major squad change for Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2027, urging the franchise to release captain Hardik Pandya and bring back Cameron Green from Kolkata Knight Riders.

Vaughan made the comments after Mumbai suffered another disappointing defeat in IPL 2026, losing to KKR at Eden Gardens in their penultimate league match. The former England captain questioned Hardik’s impact both as skipper and all-rounder during a difficult campaign for the five-time champions.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Vaughan said Mumbai should move on from the current captaincy experiment and look at a swap involving Green and Hardik. He also felt KKR could target Hardik as a future captain.

“Release. Replace him with Cameron Green. If he wants to carry on as captain, then he’d better be with a fresh set of captains. Maybe KKR. Kolkata will be looking for a new captain. That is why the Green-Hardik swap,” Michael Vaughan said on the Cricbuzz show.

Notably, Cameron Green enjoyed a successful stint with Mumbai Indians after making his IPL debut for the franchise in 2023. The Australian all-rounder scored 452 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 160.28, including an unbeaten century against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium. He also picked up 6 wickets during the season.
