BCCI Fines Hardik Pandya for IPL Code of Conduct Breach

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya received a fine and demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct against KKR.

Hardik Pandya received a fine and demerit point from the BCCI after Mumbai Indians suffered a 4-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in IPL 2026.

The Mumbai captain breached Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials, which deals with abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment or fixtures during a match. The incident occurred during Wednesday night’s contest in Kolkata.

During the fourth ball of the 10th over, Pandya angrily knocked the bails off the stumps while walking back to his mark. Moments earlier, MI fielders Deepak Chahar and Robin Minz had dropped a simple catch near the boundary to give Rovman Powell a lifeline on 14 off 8 balls.

Pandya then conceded back-to-back boundaries to Manish Pandey, increasing the pressure further. He finished with figures of 0/13 from 2 overs as KKR chased down 148 with 6 balls remaining. Already eliminated, Mumbai suffered their 9th defeat of the season.

The skipper had recently returned to action after missing 3 consecutive matches because of a back spasm. Following the breach, the BCCI fined Hardik Pandya 10 percent of his match fee and also added 1 demerit point to his disciplinary record.
