Misbah Ul Haq Set to Take Charge as PCB’s Director of International Cricket Operations

Former Pakistan captain Misbah Ul Haq was poised to assume the role of Director of International Cricket Operations at PCB.

Former Pakistan Test captain Misbah Ul Haq is set to become the Director of International Cricket Operations at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The advertisement for the position specifies that the individual must be a former domestic or international cricketer.

A reliable source within the PCB stated that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi persuaded Misbah to apply for the role, believing the former skipper and head coach is well-suited to manage international cricket affairs.

Misbah continues to maintain a close association with the PCB, serving as a mentor and advisor to the chairman on cricket matters. He is also believed to have played a significant role in the decision to remove Mohammad Rizwan as ODI captain.

Additionally, Misbah reportedly advised the national selectors against recalling top batter Babar Azam for the national T20 side.

Misbah’s Cricketing Influence

After retiring in 2017, Misbah was appointed head coach and chief selector by the PCB in 2019. However, he resigned as chief selector after one year and was later dismissed as head coach when Ramiz Raja became PCB chairman in September 2021.

Despite stepping down from these roles, Misbah remained connected to the PCB. Most recently, he served as a mentor for a domestic team in 2024, earning 5 million rupees per month. Naqvi also included him on his advisory panel on cricket matters, alongside former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sikander Bakht, and Aaqib Javed.
