Jasprit Bumrah is set to be available for the Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 opener against KKR on March 29.

Mumbai Indians received a major boost ahead of IPL 2026, with Jasprit Bumrah set to feature in the opening match on March 29. MI will face the Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium. The team will then play Delhi Capitals on April 4 in Delhi.

Bumrah is currently at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, working on his strength and conditioning as part of workload management. Reports from ESPNCricinfo indicated that he will join the squad before the opener.

The 32-year-old has been with MI since 2013. He remains the franchise’s highest wicket-taker. Bumrah took 14 wickets in 8 matches during the T20 World Cup 2026.

The pacer is also closing in on a major Mumbai Indians record in IPL 2026. He has taken 186 wickets in 148 T20 matches for the franchise, while Malinga leads the list with 195 wickets from 139 games. Bumrah has 183 wickets in 145 IPL matches and 3 in 3 Champions League games. Meanwhile, Malinga recorded 170 IPL wickets in 122 matches and 25 in 17 Champions League games. Bumrah needs only 10 wickets to surpass him. A haul of 14 wickets will take him past 200 for one team.
