Mumbai Indians Sign Mahipal Lomror as Quinton de Kock Replacement

Mumbai Indians signed Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as replacements for injured Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa.

Mumbai Indians strengthened their squad for the closing phase of IPL 2026 by signing Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as replacement players.

Lomror joined the five-time champions as a replacement for injured Quinton de Kock, while wicketkeeper-batter Ahir replaced Raj Angad Bawa, who also suffered an injury setback. The Rajasthan all-rounder brings valuable IPL experience to the Mumbai setup. The left-handed batter has already represented 4 franchises in the tournament and offers an additional slow left-arm spin option.

Ahir earned his opportunity after impressive performances in domestic cricket for Saurashtra. He also featured in the DY Patil T20 Cup earlier this year, where Mumbai Indians coaches closely tracked his progress.

Notably, Mumbai Indians endured a disappointing IPL 2026 season after managing only 4 wins from 13 matches under captain Hardik Pandya and head coach Mahela Jayawardene. The five-time champions struggled for consistency throughout the campaign and slipped near the bottom of the points table following several poor bowling performances.

MI will now close their IPL 2026 campaign against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium on May 24. While Mumbai play only for pride, the contest still carries major importance for Rajasthan’s playoff positioning in the final standings.
