Naseem Shah Fined PKR 20 Million by PCB Over Viral PSL Post

PCB fined Naseem Shah PKR 20 million for violating contract and media rules after a controversial PSL post, with the pacer issuing an apology and facing disciplinary action.

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah faced disciplinary action from the PCB on Monday. The board imposed a fine of PKR 20 million over a social media post. The incident occurred during the PSL 11 opener at Gaddafi Stadium. A ceremony featured Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz with franchise officials. Naseem reacted online to the event.

“Why is she treated like the Queen at Lord’s?” he wrote.

Naseem deleted the post quickly and later claimed his account was hacked. However, screenshots of the post spread widely on social media. The PCB issued a notice citing contract and media rule violations.

Naseem appeared before a 3-member disciplinary panel in Lahore. He submitted an unconditional apology during the hearing. The board confirmed breaches of multiple contract clauses. His social media adviser was also removed and blacklisted by PCB.

“It was noted that Naseem Shah’s social media adviser has already been terminated by Naseem and shall be blacklisted by the PCB from associating with any player falling under the PCB’s jurisdiction,” the PCB said.

Meanwhile, Naseem Shah struggled in his recent PSL outing for Rawalpindi Pindiz. He conceded 51 runs without a wicket in a five-wicket loss to Peshawar Zalmi. The pacer has taken 152 international wickets, including 20 Tests, 34 ODIs and 37 T20Is.
