Nepal chased down 171 with four balls to spare as Dipendra Singh Airee’s unbeaten fifty sealed a seven-wicket win over Scotland in Mumbai.

Nepal produced a clinical run chase to defeat Scotland by seven wickets in the 33rd Match, Group C, of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on February 17, 2026. Chasing 171, Nepal reached 171/3 in 19.2 overs, with four balls remaining.

After being put in to bat, Scotland posted a competitive 170/7 in their 20 overs. The innings was built around a fluent 71 off 45 balls by Michael Jones, who struck eight fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 157.77.

He shared an 80-run opening stand with George Munsey, who made 27 off 29 balls. Scotland reached 52 without loss in the powerplay and brought up their hundred in the 12th over.

Nepal Puts Up A Fight

However, Nepal pulled things back in the middle overs. Sompal Kami led the bowling effort with 3 for 25 in four overs, removing Jones, Brandon McMullen (25), and Tom Bruce.

Nandan Yadav picked up two wickets, while Rohit Paudel and Kushal Bhurtel chipped in with one each. Scotland lost wickets at regular intervals after the 15th over and managed 170/7, despite a late push from Mark Watt, who remained unbeaten on 10.

Nepal began their chase strongly, racing to 56/0 in the powerplay. Kushal Bhurtel set the tone with 43 off 35 balls, including four sixes, while Aasif Sheikh added 33. The pair put on 74 runs for the first wicket. Scotland fought back through Michael Leask, who claimed 3 for 30 and reduced Nepal to 98/3 in the 14th over.

But Dipendra Singh Airee turned the match decisively in Nepal’s favour. He smashed an unbeaten 50 off just 23 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 217.39. Airee added an unbroken 73-run stand with Gulsan Jha, who contributed 24 not out off 17 balls to put up to Nepal’s win.
