WATCH | Nitish Kumar Reddy Debuts in ODIs, Receives Cap from Rohit Sharma

Nitish Kumar Reddy made his ODI debut in Perth, receiving his cap from Rohit Sharma, marking another milestone after starting his Test career at the same venue in 2024.

Nitish Kumar Reddy earned his maiden ODI cap from Rohit Sharma ahead of India’s series opener against Australia at Optus Stadium, Perth. This marked another memorable moment in the young all-rounder’s career, as he debuted in the 50-over format.

Perth holds special significance for Nitish, who made his Test debut at the same venue in 2024 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where Virat Kohli handed him his Test cap. He impressed immediately with a 41 and went on to play all five Tests, including a century at the MCG. Since then, Nitish has featured in four more Tests – two against the West Indies and two during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England.

Meanwhile, Australia handed ODI debuts to Matthew Renshaw and Mitch Owen. Renshaw, who made his Test debut at 20, earned his first ODI call-up nine years later following consistent performances for Queensland and Brisbane Heat. Owen, fresh from his T20I debut in July, was rewarded for his all-round form. Shaun Marsh presented Renshaw’s cap, while Tim David handed Owen his first ODI cap.
