MS Dhoni’s return remains uncertain as CSK confirm he is still recovering from a calf injury ahead of their clash against Delhi Capitals.

After Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni was ruled out for two weeks in IPL 2026 ahead of the tournament opener, the Chief Executive Officer of the team, Kasi Viswanathan, has provided an official update on his injury as CSK is set to clash against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 11 at Chepauk.

Ahead of the match, the CSK CEO shared unfortunate news that fans were expecting to be positive. With the two-week period almost over, fans were expecting MS Dhoni to be present in the CSK vs DC encounter. However, Viswanathan shared that there still isn’t an exact timeline for Dhoni’s return.

Ahead of the fixture, Viswanathan shared that the team will have to wait a little longer to see the ex-skipper on the field, as he hasn’t yet recovered from his calf strain. Although no exact timeline can be shared, the dressing room is positive about having MS Dhoni back on track soon.

“MS is undergoing rehab and it will take some time. We can’t say how much time,” said Kasi Viswanathan, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Notably, Dhoni also hasn’t travelled with his side for the away games. Even in the home game against Punjab Kings, MS Dhoni’s presence was not seen at Chepauk, which led to speculation over his absence from the cricket field.

Meanwhile, as per a report from Cricbuzz, MS Dhoni is currently in Chennai with his family as he is undergoing rehabilitation for his calf strain under the supervision of CSK’s physio and support staff.

Dewald Brevis Back On Track

While MS Dhoni continues his recovery, the CSK CEO also revealed that Dewald Brevis has also been improving from his injury, having earlier missed the start of the season due to a side strain.

“We are hoping he will be available for the next game, but that will depend on how he progresses. We have a few days before the next game.”

Nevertheless, the update feels like a massive relief after Super Kings’ second-longest losing streak at the start of an IPL season. They will aim to bounce back stronger to climb up the IPL 2026 points table as stars start joining the team by mid-April.
