Pakistan May Skip T20 World Cup 2026 If Bangladesh Issue Continues | Reports

Pakistan may reportedly skip the T20 World Cup 2026 if Bangladesh’s ongoing issue with the ICC over traveling to India is not resolved.

Pakistan is reviewing their participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 if Bangladesh’s concerns over traveling to India remain unresolved. Reports from NDTV suggest Bangladesh has approached Pakistan seeking diplomatic and cricketing backing amid uncertainty around the tournament. Officials in Pakistan have responded positively and are closely monitoring developments.

Sources indicate Pakistan could reassess their own participation if Bangladesh’s issues are not addressed by the lCC. Pakistan has reportedly conveyed that no team should feel pressured regarding tournament arrangements or host responsibilities.

“The Bangladesh government contacted officials in Pakistan to seek support regarding their participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup and received a positive response. Pakistan has indicated to us that they could reconsider their own participation if Bangladesh’s issue is not addressed,” a source was quoted as saying by NDTV.

On January 11, the Pakistan Cricket Board had indicated readiness to host Bangladesh’s matches if venues in Sri Lanka are unavailable. Officials stated that Pakistani stadiums are prepared for World Cup fixtures and cited recent experience hosting major ICC tournaments.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has also approached the ICC seeking a group change. Bangladesh requested a swap to avoid playing group games in India during the tournament, which starts on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh are placed in Group B with West Indies, Italy, and England, with matches scheduled in Kolkata. They seek to exchange places with Ireland in Group C, whose fixtures are set for Colombo alongside Sri Lanka, Australia, and Oman. The proposal remains under ICC review.
