The Australian captain Pat Cummins declared himself fit for the Adelaide Test after recovering from a back injury.
Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has confirmed he will likely return for the third Ashes Test in Adelaide. Cummins missed the first two matches due to a back injury.
He stated that his body feels great and he is bowling at full capacity in practice. The final hurdle is proving he can bowl on consecutive days, a key requirement for Test cricket.
“First of all, yeah, I should be right for Adelaide. I’ll have one more bowl tomorrow [Sunday], and then we’ll go to Adelaide and have another bowl there. barring any hiccups, I’ll be good to go. Body feels great. Relatively close, really. My body feels great, I’m bowling at 100%,” stated Cummins during a conversation with Fox Sports.

“The big question mark when coming back from a bone injury is we tend to have a bowl and have a couple of days off, recover, bowl, bowl. I haven’t done back-to-back bowls, so one of the high-risk things going into a Test match is that you’re going to be expected to bowl two days in a row, maybe three days in a row, and potentially quite a few overs,” he added.
Cummins last played for Australia in July. He was earlier speculated to play in the ongoing second Test in Brisbane but was not deemed fit. Australia currently lead the Ashes series 1-0.
