Cricket Australia retained an unchanged squad for the Gabba Test, confirming Pat Cummins’ continued absence due to a back injury.
In a significant development, Cricket Australia has announced an unchanged squad for the second Ashes Test against England. Regular captain Pat Cummins will miss the match as he continues his recovery from a back injury.
Steve Smith will continue to lead the side in Cummins’ absence. The hosts have opted for consistency following their performance in the series opener in Perth.
Cummins Granted More Time for Rehabilitation
Despite returning to training and bowling spells, Pat Cummins has not been selected. He requires more time to recover from a lumbar back stress fracture. This injury also sidelined him from the first Test.
“As revealed by Cricket.com.au, Cummins has been given an additional period of two weeks to complete his rehabilitation from a lumbar back stress which sidelined him from the Ashes opener at Perth.”
Meanwhile, batsman Usman Khawaja has been included in the squad. Khawaja, who suffered a back spasm during the Perth Test, is fit for the upcoming pink-ball encounter in Brisbane.
