PCB Backs Bangladesh, Writes Mail to ICC Ahead of T20 World Cup Deadline | Reports

PCB has written a formal mail to the ICC supporting Bangladesh’s concerns over playing T20 World Cup matches in India, prompting emergency board-level discussions.

Ahead of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s deadline to confirm participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly backed Bangladesh’s concerns over playing matches in India. A report from ESPNCricinfo stated that the PCB sent a formal mail to the International Cricket Council(ICC).

The ICC is expected to hold a Board meeting on Wednesday to review the matter. Discussions are set to include Bangladesh’s earlier request to move its group fixtures to Sri Lanka due to security concerns. Under the current schedule, Bangladesh is placed in Group B and is due to play matches in Kolkata and Mumbai.

However, the report also added that the meeting is unlikely to change the ICC’s position. The governing body has already rejected any schedule changes and maintained its stance during extended talks with the BCB.

Reports Suggest PCB Open to Hosting Matches

Earlier media reports from Pakistan claimed that the Bangladesh government approached Pakistan for diplomatic and cricketing support. Those reports also suggested that Pakistan had supported Bangladesh’s concerns and assessed its own position in the tournament. Some reports even stated that Pakistan showed readiness to host Bangladesh’s matches if required.

So far, the Pakistan Cricket Board has not released any official response to these claims.
