Ramakrishna Ghosh saw his IPL 2026 campaign end abruptly after suffering a foot fracture during the Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians clash at Chepauk on May 2, 2026. The injury has ruled him out of the remainder of the season after just 1 appearance.

Ghosh made his debut for Chennai Super Kings in the high-profile fixture, having been signed for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. He delivered a decent outing, bowling 3 overs, picking up 1 wicket and taking 1 catch. He had replaced Gurjapneet Singh in the XI, while Prashant Veer came in for Akeal Hosein as part of 2 changes led by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk.
He will take no further part in IPL 2026. Get well soon, Rambo,” CSK posted on their Instagram.

The all-rounder earned his opportunity after strong domestic performances for Maharashtra. He grabbed attention in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with figures of 7 for 42 against Himachal Pradesh. He also impressed with the bat, scoring 64 off 27 against Mumbai and 52 off 33 in the Maharashtra Premier League.

In the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, he claimed 11 wickets in 6 matches, showcasing control and consistency with the ball.

Multiple Players Ruled Out of IPL 2026

Meanwhile, CSK’s campaign has been plagued by injuries this season. Ayush Mhatre picked up a left hamstring injury, while Khaleel Ahmed sustained a Grade 2 quadriceps tear. Nathan Ellis also remains unavailable due to a hamstring issue.

MS Dhoni continues to recover from a calf strain and has missed all matches. Spencer Johnson’s return has faced delays due to a back stress fracture. To manage the situation, CSK signed Akash Madhwal as a replacement. Akeal Hosein avoided serious injury after a concussion check during a recent match.
