RCB and KSCA have planned a memorial and tribute for the 11 stampede victims at M Chinnaswamy Stadium with a memorial plaque and 11 reserved seats that will remain unsold during matches.
KSCA and Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB) are planning a memorial and tribute for the 11 stampede victims. The incident occurred outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium last year during title celebrations.
Authorities will place a memorial plaque at the inner entrance. The step honours fans who lost their lives. Reports also confirmed that 11 seats will remain reserved in their memory. These seats will not be sold for IPL or international matches. Officials will cordon off the section as a mark of respect. A minute’s silence will also be observed before play, with stadium screens displaying all 11 names.
KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad confirmed the plaque installation. He said stakeholders discussed the memorial before finalising the decision.

“It is painful to even think about the tragic incident. But we have been discussing the memorial for a while with the managing committee and other major stakeholders and collectively felt it was important to honour the memory of the 11 people. We don’t want to rekindle any pain; instead, remember them. That’s why we decided to place an epitaph of the cricket fans whose lives were cut short tragically,” Prasad said.
IPL 2026 begins on March 28 with RCB facing Sunrisers Hyderabad.
