Venkatesh Prasad said he will work to ensure RCB can play their IPL home matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium if he becomes KSCA president.
Venkatesh Prasad has officially entered the race for the Karnataka State Cricket Association presidency. He is considered a leading contender with strong support from former India cricketers Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath. After filing his nomination on November 13, Prasad outlined his plan to rebuild the association. He stated that cricket in Karnataka has slipped behind due to administrative issues. He aims to restore the strength of the domestic structure and revive standards last seen under previous leadership.
“We are here for a purpose and for a cause. Cricket’s revival is the main priority. And making sure that our domestic structure gets back the way it used to be when Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath were heading the association. We have seen the decline in cricket since. The sport has taken a backseat. And now we want to revive that,” Prasad told reporters on Thursday afternoon.
Prasad also intends to develop a clear plan to restore the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium’s prominence and address issues that followed the June 4 stampede incident. The stampede occurred a day after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first IPL title. He stressed that he will work to ensure RCB return to Chinnaswamy Stadium for the next IPL season.

Reports indicate that RCB may host all home matches of the 2026 IPL season at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
“We are going to work extremely hard to make sure that the Bengaluru team (RCB) plays at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the upcoming IPL. We would also work to bring back glory to the Chinnaswamy (Stadium) that it has lost in the recent past,” he concluded.
