
Varun Chakaravarthy will lead Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which begins nationwide on November 26. The spinner enters the tournament in strong form after taking 5 wickets during India’s recent 2-1 T20I series win in Australia.
Narayan Jagadeesan has been named vice-captain for the campaign. Tamil Nadu’s squad also includes R Sai Kishore, Andre Siddarth, and left-arm seamer T Natarajan.
In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Tamil Nadu have produced modest results and sit in Elite Group D alongside Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Tripura, Jharkhand, and Saurashtra. Their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign will begin with a fixture against Rajasthan in Ahmedabad.

Tamil Nadu have also rewarded two of this year’s TNPL standouts, V.P. Amith Sathvik and A. Esakkimuthu, with their first senior-team call-ups. Both players played crucial roles in IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans’ title-winning run, with Amith providing quick starts alongside Tushar Raheja and Esakkimuthu impressing with his pace while finishing second on the wicket charts with 14 wickets.
