RCB outclass LSG with a dominant chase as Virat Kohli and bowlers power a five-wicket win in Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in Match 23 of IPL 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15. Chasing a modest target of 147, RCB reached 149/5 in just 15.1 overs, sealing victory with 29 balls to spare.

Batting first, LSG struggled to build sustained partnerships despite a few individual contributions. Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 40 off 32 balls, while Ayush Badoni added a brisk 38 from 24 deliveries. Mukul Choudhary chipped in with 39 off 28 balls to push the total to 146 in 20 overs.

However, regular wickets dented their progress. Skipper Rishabh Pant managed just 1 off 6 balls before his innings was cut short, while Nicholas Pooran also fell cheaply.

RCB’s bowling attack was sharp and disciplined. Rasikh Salam starred with an impressive 4/24 in his four overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 3/27. Krunal Pandya (2/38) and Josh Hazlewood (1/20) provided solid support.

RCB’s chase began with an early setback as Phil Salt fell for 7. But Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a fluent 49 off 34 balls, striking six fours and a six.

He was supported by Devdutt Padikkal (10) in a steady second-wicket stand before LSG briefly clawed back into the contest. Rajat Patidar then injected momentum with a quickfire 27 off 13 balls, including three sixes.

After a couple of quick wickets, Jitesh Sharma smashed 23 off just 9 balls to bring RCB closer to the target. The finishing touches were applied by Tim David (14*) and Romario Shepherd (14*), who calmly guided the team home. For LSG, Prince Yadav impressed with 3/32, while Avesh Khan picked up 2/23.
