WATCH | Vintage Rohit Sharma Lights Up Sydney with 33rd ODI Century

Rohit Sharma smashed his 33rd ODI century and 50th international hundred in Sydney, as India nears a win in the third ODI.

Rohit Sharma reached a significant milestone in Sydney, scoring his 33rd ODI century in the final match of the series against Australia. His hundred, also his ninth against Australia in ODIs, came with a single off Adam Zampa as India crossed the 200-run mark. Rohit lifted his bat and helmet to acknowledge the crowd before receiving a warm hug from Virat Kohli at the non-striker’s end.

With this knock, Rohit became only the 10th player in history to register 50 international centuries. Among Indians, only Sachin Tendulkar with 100 and Virat Kohli with 82 have more hundreds across formats. In ODIs, Rohit now stands third on the all-time list, behind Tendulkar’s 49 and Kohli’s 51.

Earlier in the innings, Rohit reached his 60th half-century with a six off Adam Zampa. That hit also helped him set a new record for the most sixes by a visiting batter in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) in ODIs. He now has 93 sixes in these nations, surpassing West Indies legend Chris Gayle’s tally.

India, meanwhile, crossed 200 runs as they move closer to a win.
