ICC ambassador Rohit Sharma greeted the Indian players and shared a warm moment with Wasim Akram before the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 clash in Colombo.

Former India captain made an appearance around the T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday. Rohit Sharma greeted the Indian players and support staff before the start of play at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Rohit attended in his role as an ICC ambassador for the 2026 tournament, a position he was appointed to in November 2025. He is the first active Indian cricketer to hold the role. Earlier in the day, a brief airport video showing his arrival also circulated widely on social media.

During the pre-match ceremony, Rohit stood alongside Pakistan legend Wasim Akram near the World Cup trophy. The two exchanged greetings and posed for photographs.

In the ongoing match, Pakistan requires 176 to win after India posted 175/7, the highest total in India-Pakistan T20 World Cup matches. Ishan Kishan led the charge with 77 off 40 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh added useful runs.

Soon after the interval, India lost Tilak and Hardik Pandya in successive deliveries, with Hardik out for 0. Despite that, the scoring rate stayed between 9 and 10 per over. Pakistan’s fielding lapses proved costly. Shadab Khan conceded an easy boundary to Suryakumar, while another misfield allowed extra runs. Spinner Usman Tariq impressed with 4/24.
