Rohit Sharma’s Fitness Transformation Earns Compliments from R. Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin praised Rohit Sharma’s fitness transformation, saying his leaner, fitter look has improved his game and made him look “a million dollars.”

Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has praised Rohit Sharma’s fitness transformation following India’s three-match ODI series win over Australia. Rohit, who secured the Player of the Series award, has worked extensively behind the scenes to shed weight and improve agility.

Ashwin highlighted that while Rohit has always had exceptional batting skills, his improved fitness allows him to perform more effectively. The opener appears leaner and fitter, able to run freely and move quickly on the field.

“Rohit is looking proper fit and lean, he is able to run and is getting going. The quality of batting is always there, but if you are fit, you lose weight, you are able to feel light, your skill will take over. Rohit is looking a million dollars. He is looking all set and poised,” stated Ashwin in a video on his YouTube channel.

Rohit-Kohli Duo Returns Strong

Ravichandran Ashwin then praised Virat Kohli’s 74-run innings off 81 balls in Sydney, noting that the veteran remained effective despite not being at his fluent best.

“I don’t understand why some people did not expect him to score. He has been one of your best white-ball batters over the decade or so. I was always very confident that he and Virat would both make runs. Virat was not at his best, but still he found a way to get those runs. The straight-drive he played was a sight to behold. All his fans will be very happy today,” he said.

Kohli and Rohit Sharma returned to international cricket after a several-month hiatus, having retired from T20Is and Tests. Rohit was named Player of the Series for scoring 202 runs across three ODIs at a strike rate of 85.59. This included an unbeaten 121 off 125 balls in the third match. He hit 13 fours and three sixes and shared an unbroken 168-run partnership with Kohli. Both are expected to feature in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa at home.
