
Sanju Samson’s explosive run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has earned him a spot among the Player of the Tournament nominees alongside several global standouts.
As the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 approaches its climax, the shortlist for the Player of the Tournament award has been revealed, highlighting the standout performers who have lit up the competition with remarkable displays across batting, bowling, and all-round performances.
England’s dynamic all-rounder Will Jacks has been a key figure in his team’s campaign, contributing both with the bat and the ball. In eight matches, Jacks has scored 226 runs and taken nine wickets, playing a crucial role in England winning six of their games. Jacks also proved effective with his off-spin, including a best spell of 3/22 against Sri Lanka, while also delivering another all-round performance against New Zealand with 2/23 and an unbeaten 32.
India’s Sanju Samson has also made a strong case for the award with his explosive batting. In four matches, Samson has scored 232 runs at a stunning average of 77.33 and a strike rate of 201.73. He delivered back-to-back Player of the Match performances, including an unbeaten 97 off 50 balls against West Indies in the Super Eights and a match-defining 89 off 42 balls in the semi-final.
Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan produced one of the most remarkable batting performances in tournament history. Across seven matches, he scored 383 runs at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25, the most runs ever scored in a single edition of the men’s T20 World Cup.
For South Africa, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been their most consistent pacer, claiming 12 wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 7.19. South Africa’s batting unit has been led brilliantly by captain Aiden Markram, who scored 286 runs in eight matches, including three half-centuries.

New Zealand’s versatile Rachin Ravindra also earned a nomination for his all-round contributions, scoring 128 runs and picking up 11 wickets in eight matches. His best performance came against Sri Lanka where he scored 32 and returned with figures of 4/27, while he also claimed 3/19 against England.
USA pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk produced one of the most extraordinary bowling runs despite his team exiting in the group stage. In just four matches, he picked up a tournament-leading 13 wickets at an economy of 6.80. His campaign began with 4/25 against India and he repeated the same figures against Pakistan in the following match.
New Zealand opener Tim Seifert has been instrumental in guiding his team to the final. He scored 274 runs in eight matches at an average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 161.17. Seifert began the tournament with fifties against Afghanistan and UAE, while his crucial 58 against South Africa in the semi-final helped New Zealand chase down 170, sharing a 117-run opening partnership with Finn Allen.
