Scotland is set to replace Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after the BCB refused to travel to India over security concerns.
Scotland is reportedly set to replace Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament will be hosted in India and Sri Lanka from February 7. The move follows Bangladesh’s continued refusal to travel to India for the event.
IANS reports indicate that the International Cricket Council decided after repeated discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board. An official announcement is expected soon. The ICC maintained that the event would run as scheduled, with games remaining in India.
“Since the ICC released its statement earlier this week and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appears adamant about not travelling to India, Scotland is set to replace Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup. An official confirmation is expected very soon,” IANS quoted ICC sources as saying.
The situation escalated after BCCI asked the Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2026 amid political tensions. The ICC also issued a 24-hour deadline to the BCB to confirm participation.
