Shreyas Iyer is expected to come back to India’s ODI squad for the New Zealand series after completing his recovery and domestic matches.
Shreyas Iyer is closing in on an international comeback and is likely to feature in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. According to reports from The Times of India, he has been training at the Board of Control for Cricket in India Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is expected to remain there until December 30.
Iyer is set to join the Mumbai cricket team squad in Jaipur on January 2. He is scheduled to play Vijay Hazare Trophy matches on January 3 and January 6. Subject to medical clearance, he will then link up with the national team.
The ODI series against the New Zealand cricket team begins in Vadodara on January 11. Officials have indicated positive progress, with no fresh injury concerns reported so far.
An abdominal injury earlier forced him to miss the ODI series against South Africa and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His return is seen as a timely boost for India as the team shapes plans toward the 2027 ODI World Cup.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in strong form, Shreyas Iyer’s availability strengthens the No. 4 position. During his absence, Ruturaj Gaikwad filled the role and scored a century. Selectors are expected to confirm the squad after medical clearance, likely in early January.
