Big Boost for India as Shreyas Iyer Nears Comeback | Reports

Shreyas Iyer has reportedly returned to batting without pain and reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru as he moves closer to a competitive comeback.

Shreyas Iyer has reportedly made progress in his recovery by resuming batting ahead of India’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which begins in 17 days. The batter reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence for further medical assessment

Reports from The Times of India indicate that Iyer batted for nearly one hour without any discomfort and has started preparing for a return. His last appearance came in the ODI series against Australia in October, where an abdominal injury forced him out of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the ODIs against South Africa.

Four to Six-Day Stay Planned at Centre of Excellence

He is set to spend between four and six days at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to assess his recovery progress. The stay should provide clearer timelines for his return to competitive cricket.

Meanwhile, India’s next ODI assignment begins against New Zealand on January 11. The squad announcement is expected around January 2 or 3. While Shreyas Iyer’s selection is not yet confirmed, team sources have not ruled out his availability for the series. He is reportedly targeting the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Final clearance and timelines will depend on evaluations by the Centre of Excellence.
