South Africa reportedly face two key injury worries ahead of the second Test in Guwahati, with Simon Harmer managing a shoulder problem and Marco Jansen dealing with a minor niggle. According to reports from News18, both players underwent scans in Kolkata, just days after their standout performances in the 30-run win at Eden Gardens.
Harmer delivered figures of 4/30 and 4/21 across nearly 30 overs. Meanwhile, Jansen claimed 3/25 and 2/15 as India were dismissed for 189 and 93. Their availability for the November 22 Test remains uncertain.
If Harmer is sidelined, Senuran Muthuswamy could step in, while Kagiso Rabada is an option to replace Jansen in the XI.
India Adds Nitish Kumar Reddy as Cover
Meanwhile, India are managing concerns over Shubman Gill’s fitness ahead of the second Test in Guwahati. The opener continues to recover from the neck injury he suffered during the Kolkata match. What was first believed to be a minor sprain required hospital treatment. Gill has been discharged but has not yet rejoined the squad, which remains in training at Eden Gardens. With his participation still uncertain, India have recalled all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has now linked up with the team. A final decision on Gill’s availability is expected closer to the match.
