Indian opener Smriti Mandhana issued a clear statement on Sunday confirming that her wedding with composer-filmmaker Palash Muchhal has been called off, ending weeks of speculation around her personal life. She addressed the situation through an Instagram story to her fans and followers. This is her first public response to the ongoing rumours.

Mandhana explained that she prefers to keep her personal matters private but felt the need to clarify the development and bring the discussion to an end. She requested privacy for both families as they process the situation and reiterated that her focus remains firmly on her cricketing career.

“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarily that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same,” the story on Instagram read.

In the weeks before the planned wedding in Sangli, Smriti Mandhana faced a series of unexpected events. The ceremony, scheduled for November 23, was postponed after her father suffered a health scare on the morning of the wedding. Hours later, Palash Muchhal was also hospitalised.

Soon after, speculation invcreased as Mandhana withdrew from the Women’s Big Bash League. She then deleted all wedding-related posts, including the proposal video. Close friend Jemimah Rodrigues also skipped the league to stay with her. Palash made only brief public appearances during this period.

In other news, Smriti Mandhana has been retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹3.5 crore. She also finished the Women’s World Cup 2025 with 434 runs across nine matches.
