T20 World Cup 2026 | South Africa Blaze Past UAE In Dominant Show At Delhi

Corbin Bosch’s 3/12 and a blazing top-order show powered South Africa to a dominant six-wicket win over UAE in Delhi.

South Africa produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat United Arab Emirates by six wickets with 40 balls remaining in the Group D clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on February 18.

Chasing a modest target of 123, South Africa reached 123/4 in just 13.2 overs, thanks to a dominant batting display led by Aiden Markram and Dewald Brevis. Earlier, Corbin Bosch starred with the ball, claiming 3/12 in his four overs to restrict UAE to 122/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Bosch was rightly named Player of the Match for his match-winning spell.

Put in to bat, UAE got off to a brisk start with skipper Muhammad Waseem scoring 22 off 12 balls. However, once he fell lbw to George Linde, wickets began to fall at regular intervals.

Aryansh Sharma made 13, while Alishan Sharafu top-scored with a fighting 45 off 38 balls, including five fours and a six. But the middle order failed to capitalize, as Anrich Nortje (2/28) and Linde (1/17) kept things tight. Bosch’s disciplined bowling in the death overs ensured UAE never built late momentum.

South Africa Respond Aggressively

In reply, South Africa came out aggressively. Markram smashed 28 off just 11 balls, hitting five fours and a six to give his side early momentum.

Though Quinton de Kock departed for 14, Ryan Rickelton (30 off 16) and Dewald Brevis (36 off 25) kept the run rate high. The Proteas crossed 100 in just 10.3 overs, effectively sealing the contest. UAE bowlers managed four wickets, but the target proved too small to defend.

With this comfortable win, South Africa strengthened their position in Group D, displaying both bowling discipline and batting depth at a crucial stage of the tournament.
