South Africa won against West Indies with a commanding nine-wicket victory in the Super Eights clash in Ahmedabad. Chasing 177, the Proteas made a mockery of the target, racing to 177/1 in just 16.1 overs with 23 balls to spare.
After being put under pressure early in the tournament, South Africa delivered a clinical all-round performance. West Indies posted 176/8 in their 20 overs, recovering from a disastrous powerplay that saw them slump to 52/4. Lungi Ngidi led the bowling effort with figures of 3/30, while Kagiso Rabada (2/22) and Corbin Bosch (2/31) kept the scoring in check through the middle overs.
The Caribbean innings was revived by a fighting 49 off 31 balls from Jason Holder and a brilliant unbeaten 52 off 37 from Romario Shepherd. The duo stitched together a crucial late partnership that lifted West Indies from 83/7 to a competitive total. Shepherd’s knock, laced with three fours and four sixes, ensured momentum at the death, but the total always felt slightly under par on a good batting surface.

He dominated the powerplay alongside Quinton de Kock, who hammered 47 off just 24 deliveries. The pair added 95 runs in under eight overs, effectively sealing the contest early.
After de Kock’s dismissal, Ryan Rickelton continued the charge with a fluent 45* off 28 balls, ensuring there were no late hiccups. South Africa’s powerplay yield of 69 without loss set the tone for the chase, and West Indies’ bowlers struggled for control, with only Roston Chase managing a wicket.
