Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube have been given a break from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match so they can focus on preparing for India’s T20I series against South Africa.
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Shivam Dube will not feature in Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy match as both players are focusing on their upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Suryakumar is prioritising white-ball cricket with long-term plans aimed at the 2026 T20 World Cup. The skipper has committed to playing every limited-overs fixture leading into the tournament.
“Yadav has informed MCA that he would not be available. We have accepted his request as we feel that with the T20 World Cup around the corner, he should concentrate more on it,” a source in the Mumbai Cricket Association told The Indian Express.
Their absence from the Ranji fixture means the pair will return to action in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on November 26, when Mumbai face Railways. Suryakumar has already confirmed his availability for both the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“He (Suryakumar) has informed us that he will be available for the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy. As far as Dube is concerned, there is an upcoming T20I series against South Africa, so that he can prepare for the same,” the source added.
